What can I expect?

What is your waiting time?

Monthly we update our waiting time for Basic Mental Healthcare (GB-GGZ) on our home page. The Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa in Dutch) has a website in English. Check this link for more information.

What health care programs do you have?

We offer five options for GB-GGZ: ‘short’, ‘middle’, ‘intensive’ ‘chronic’ and ‘incomplete’. The first three are used when symptoms are present, but not complex. ‘Chronic’ is used when symptoms are present, but clear and less urgent. Appointments are made with more interval than the first three options. ‘Incomplete’ is used when you/we decide to quit the treatment in the phase of intake.

What if I terminate therapy before end of treatment

If you decide to quit the treatment, a declaration will still be made by your insurance company (according to guide lines from the NZa). After a finished treatment, you are able to return in the same calender year to our practice if that is necessary. The GP does need to write a new referral.

People who are insured at the following health care providers, will get compensated for all expenses. Please keep in mind your ‘own contribution’ of (at least) €385,-. This is a fee everybody with an insurance pays per year as an threshold amount to be able to access health insurance.

We don’t charge any fees when you cancel in time (at least 24 hours before the appointment). If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance, or forget the appointment, you will personally be charged €60,-. You won’t be able to claim this amount with your health insurance.

What if I need help without a DSM diagnosis?

It is possible to be able to receive psychological help without a DSM 5 diagnosis. Since the health insurance companies don’t consider it ‘insured care’, you will have to pay the full amount yourself. Please inform with our front office for more information.

What can I expext during intake?

The intake interview is important because it is the first interaction that occurs between the client and the psychologist. The purpose of the intake interview often includes establishing and diagnosing any problems that you may have. During the intake interview, the clinician may determine a treatment plan for you specific problem. In some cases, a particular clinician may feel that he or she lacks the expertise to best help you. If this is the case, this will become apparent during the intake interview and the clinician will refer you to another source.
Based on the findings from the intake interview (and sometimes more extensive psychodiagnostic assessment) a treatment plan will be established. There are different ways of treatment, and choice of treatment will always be based on one’s individual situation.

What if I am abroad during my therapy?

When coming to our practice is a problem for you, or if there are other reasons why telephonic contact is preferable, we can do this via skype.
